Won Tae-in pitches 5 innings of 3-hit, 1-run baseball against APBC Taiwan…

Won Tae-in (Samsung Lions) became the first Korean starting pitcher to earn a win at the Asian Professional Baseball Championship (APBC) 2023.

Won started the final game against Chinese Taipei at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan, on Aug. 18 and threw 84 pitches over five innings, giving up three hits (one home run) and one run (one earned) while striking out five.

Won is the first South Korean starter to fulfill the win requirement in the tournament.

Moon Dong-joo (Hanwha Eagles) was pulled in the bottom of the sixth inning against Australia after falling behind 1-2, and Lee Yi-ri (KIA Tigers) 안전카지노사이트 gave up two runs in six innings against Japan before giving way to Chihiro Sumida (seven scoreless innings).

Won Tae-in, on the other hand, showed off his crisis management skills with the batting support to give his team a 6-1 lead.

Won, who struck gold at the Hangzhou Asian Games with a four-hit shutout in 10 innings over two games, proved his international competitiveness.

After working a triple play inning with 10 pitches in the top of the first, Won gave up a leadoff double to Liu Zhihong over the left field fence.

Two batters later, Lin Jingkai, who hit an extra-base hit against Australia, was hit by a foul ball, but he struck out swinging.

In the third inning, a fielding error by first baseman Noh Si-hwan put runners on first and second. After catching the grounder, Noh made a hasty throw to Won Tae-in, who covered first base.

With runners on first and third, Won struck out Guo Denxin and Zhu Zhizheng to get out of the jam.

Wen’s only run came in the fourth inning.

After walking leadoff hitter Zheng Jieshen on a full count of 13 pitches, a fastball to No. 4 hitter Liu Zhihong went for a solo shot to left field.

The next batter, Wei Zhenghua, saw a changeup and hit a two-run double to right field, putting the game out of reach.

However, Won took a breather after a mound visit from his coach and didn’t give up a hit to get the next two outs.

In the fifth inning, Won Tae-in worked around two swinging strikes and a fly ball to create a second triple play inning and then happily handed the ball over to Seung-jo Kim (NC Dinos). 온라인카지노
