Shohei Ohtani has suffered a shoulder injury.

Major League Baseball’s Shohei Ohtani (LA Dodgers) has suffered a shoulder injury.

The Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the New York Yankees in Game 2 of the 2024 World Series on Sunday at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

Ohtani started the game as the No. 1 designated hitter. With one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, Ohtani drew a walk in his fourth at-bat against Yankees reliever Clay Holmes. Mookie Betts struck out to end the inning.

With Teoscar Hernandez at bat, Ohtani tried to steal second base on the first pitch and was tagged out. However, after falling to the ground next to the base, Ohtani was unable to get up and complained of pain. He touched his left hand to the ground while sliding and appeared to have an impact. It appeared to be an injury.

Manager Dave Roberts, an interpreter, and a trainer rushed over to assess the injury. Ohtani returned to the dugout, unable to move his left arm properly, and was helped off by the trainer.

“It appeared to be an injury to Ohtani’s left wrist or shoulder,” 카지노사이트 Dodgers media noted. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports said Ohtani injured his left shoulder while sliding. Japan’s NHK broadcast said that “Ohtani’s shoulder came off.”

In the TV broadcast,

Ohtani could be heard saying to his trainer, “Shoulder, it’s gone.” The voice was apparently picked up by the umpire’s microphone.

Ohtani, who had a phenomenal 50-homer, 50-steal season in the regular season, has yet to steal a base in the postseason.

In his first at-bat of the day, Ohtani hit a 96.8-mph fastball off Yankees starter Carlos Rodon on the second pitch of the first inning, but was thrown out on a fly ball to center field. His second at-bat with one out in the third, he struck out swinging on an outside-footed slider. In the fourth inning, with two on and one out, he took a first-pitch fastball from the Yankees’ No. 2 pitcher, Curzon, but was thrown out on a grounder to shortstop.

In Game 1 of the World Series on Sept. 26, he hit a double off the center field fence with one out in the eighth inning, trailing 1-2, and quickly advanced to third on a throwing error by the shortstop on the replay. Betts’ sacrifice fly tied the game at 2-2.
