“I grew up hearing that Suwon is a soccer city…but the reality is poor” Yong Yong Lee comments on Suwon FC environment

They wanted to improve the user experience.

The Korea Professional Football Association held the ‘Hana Bank K League 1 2024 Final Round Media Day’ at Nuri Dream Square, located in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The event was attended by the managers of Ulsan HD, Gimcheon Commerce, Gangwon FC, Pohang Steelers, FC Seoul, and Suwon FC, all of whom advanced to the Final A. The players were Kim Ki-hee (Ulsan), Kim Min-duk (Gimcheon), Hwang Mung-ki (Gangwon), 토토사이트 Kim Jong-woo (Pohang), Lingard (Seoul), and Lee Yong-woo (Suwon FC).

Lee Yong-yong is the captain of Suwon FC this season. As a veteran and captain, he was the center of the team. He also contributed greatly to the team’s performance. His sharp crosses from the right flank created attacking opportunities. In 25 games this season, he has one goal and one assist.

This season, Suwon FC defied all expectations and reached the Final A. But it hasn’t been all good times. Lee Seung-woo, Kwon Kyung-won, and Son Jun-ho left midway through the season, and the team suffered a series of heavy defeats. “It was the first time we got together after coach Kim Eun-joong came in, and there were a lot of changes, so we were worried, but when (Ji) Dong-won and (Kwon) Kyung-won came in, the team became stronger,” Yong said.

“They work really hard, so the younger guys picked up on that. In the beginning, of course, there were some mismatches, but the players all worked hard and became more solid. Then we lost (Lee) Seung-woo and Kyung-won, who were our mainstays, and we faltered. (Son) Jun-ho joined the team, and it was corrected, but we faltered a lot because of bad situations,” he added.

“We conceded a lot of goals and the players’ motivation dropped. I think we’re past that now. Suwon FC hasn’t played in the Asian Champions League yet, so we’re trying to focus a little bit more and motivate them because if they don’t lose their motivation, they have a chance.”

Suwon FC is making the best of a difficult environment. Coach Kim Eun-joong has consistently emphasized the need for more players, but it hasn’t happened, but the team still managed to reach the Final A. “Honestly, I grew up playing soccer since I was a kid and heard that Suwon is a city of soccer, but the reality is the worst. There is no clubhouse and no soccer field. We even have to use sports fields to practice. Even food is limited,” he explains.

He acknowledged the practicalities of using the facilities. “Of course, the environment can’t change overnight. But I think there has to be a vision, and I’m not sure if that vision is there now. We are in a high position and I want to motivate the players somehow, but we lack that. If the main players are out, we should have brought in players of equal quality.”
