The Korean national fencing team, which succeeded in reaching the top of Asia at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games held in September,

begins the international competition schedule for the new season this week.

The 2023-2024 season of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) international competitions begins with the men’s and women’s Saber World Cup,

which opens in Algiers, Algeria on the 9th. 온라인카지노

While the men’s and women’s Saber World Cup continues for four days until the 12th,

the women’s epee World Cup will be held in Legnano, Italy, the men’s epee world cup in Bern, Switzerland,

the men’s foil world cup will be held in Turkye Istanbul from the 10th to the 12th.

Korean fencing, which had been stagnant on the international stage for a while,

including being pushed out of the ‘top 3’ at the World Championships in July of this year (1st silver, 2nd bronze, 7th overall),

won 6 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

The team entered the new season with the team’s mood boosted by achieving an overall win for the fourth time in a row.

This season, which will last until May next year, the fencing team plans to participate in about eight competitions in each event, including three grand prix competitions.

In Korea, the Saber Grand Prix will be held in Seoul from May 3 to 5 next year, continuing last year.

As the world rankings as of April 1 next year during this season determine the distribution of qualifications for the 2024 Paris Olympics,

the results of each competition reflected in the world rankings have great significance for participation in the Olympics.

In particular, if you win the right to participate in the team event at the Olympics,

three players from each country can automatically compete in the individual event in that event,

so your performance in the team event is key.

The right to participate in the team event is given first to the teams ranked 1st to 4th in the world rankings for each event,

the remaining four tickets are given to the team with the highest rank in each of the four regions among the 5th to 16th places.

In the first competition of the important season, key players from the men’s saber team,

including Oh Sang-wook (Daejeon Metropolitan City Hall) and Koo Bon-gil (Korea Sports Promotion Foundation),

who clashed in the final of the individual event at the Hangzhou Asian Games and shared gold and silver medals,

and teamed up to win the team event, will participate.

However, Kim Jun-ho (Hwaseong City Hall), one of the team gold medal members,

will not participate in this competition to receive treatment for an injury.

In the women’s saber team, Asian Games individual gold medalist Jisoo Yoon will not participate to recover from an injury,

while Jeon Ha-young (Seoul City Hall) and Seo Ji-yeon (Ansan City Hall) are scheduled to participate.
