Saudis make 1.5 trillion offer to Vinicius
It’s a super offer, literally. Saudi Arabia has made a huge offer for Vinicius Junior, worth over 500 billion won ($500 million) per year.
Global sports media outlet ESPN reported on Wednesday (July 13) that “Saudi Arabian professional clubs have made Vinicius their number one target. Saudi Arabia has already approached Vinicius and promised him a salary of 350 million euros (about 52.5 billion won). Vinicius has not denied that he has received an offer from Saudi Arabia.”
Since Vinicius is currently under contract with Real Madrid, Saudi Arabia would need to trigger Vinicius’ buyout clause in order to sign him. Vinicius’ buyout clause is worth €1 billion.
Astronomical buyout clauses are not uncommon when signing players. It’s become commonplace for teams to set buyout clauses that most teams can’t afford, and Vinicius’ €1 billion buyout means he’s not for sale.
But it’s a different story when it’s a club from Saudi Arabia. Saudi clubs, with their deep pockets and ability to scoop up star players from all over Europe, can afford to pay a billion euros.
Saudi Arabia is the only country that can offer a salary of €350 million. This is especially true when you’re talking about a player who plays for one of the best clubs in the world, Real Madrid, and is a Ballon d’Or contender.
If he accepted the offer and played just one year in Saudi Arabia, he could earn enough money to retire from soccer, but he turned it down.
Global sports outlet The Athletic broke the news of the Saudi offer, saying, “Vinicius has made it clear that he is happy at Real Madrid. He wants to be the best player in the world at Real Madrid. He has rejected the offer from Saudi Arabia.”
“Nevertheless, the Saudi clubs will not give up on signing him,” the media outlet continued, suggesting that although he has no intention of moving to Saudi Arabia, they will continue to try to sign him.
The €350 million offer from Saudi clubs for Vinicius is the highest in soccer history. Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi have previously been offered astronomical salaries and staggering terms, but they pale in comparison to what Vinicius has received.
The reason for offering Vinicius this level of money and bringing him to Saudi Arabia is the 2034 World Cup, which will be held in the kingdom. To be more precise, the plan is to make the world-class player the face of the 2034 FIFA World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
The Athletic reports that “Real Madrid striker Vinicius has turned down an offer to join Saudi Arabia. Saudi officials have contacted his agent and asked him to become the face of the Saudi league ahead of the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia.”
The Saudi Pro League already has a superstar in Cristiano Ronaldo, but the league can’t afford to keep him, who could retire tomorrow, until the 토토사이트 순위 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia. As for the next superstar, Mbappe, he recently moved to Real Madrid, making it virtually impossible to bring him to Saudi Arabia. That’s where Vinicius comes in.
According to Brazilian media outlet GE, the team that made Vinicius such a hefty offer was Al Ahli. Behind Al Ahli is the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund (PIF), which owns Newcastle United in the Premier League (PL), as well as Al Ittihad, Al Nasr, and Al Hilal, three of the country’s top clubs.
“PIF wants Vinicius as an ambassador for the 2034 FIFA World Cup Saudi Arabia and Al Ahli,” GE said. “The goal of the project is to bring Vinicius to Al-Ahli,” said a source close to the project, “and the offer is the largest in sports history. Real Madrid’s position is that they will only be able to negotiate a buyout clause.”
However, the PIF’s plan is unlikely to go through easily. Real Madrid is reportedly not willing to sell Vinicius, and Vinicius is not willing to leave Real.
The Athletic reported that Real have no intention of selling him unless his buyout clause is €1 billion, as reported by GE, and that he wants to stay at Real Madrid and win the Ballon d’Or.
His ambitions are quite realizable. In recent seasons, Vinicius has become Real Madrid’s go-to attacking player. He played a big role in Real’s league and UEFA Champions League titles last season. For his performances, Vinicius, along with teammates Kylian Mbappe and Judd Bellingham, is considered a favorite to win the next Ballon d’Or.
