South Korea’s Sung Hyun Kim is tied for fourth place after the first round of the PGA Tour’s Barracuda Championship ($4 million purse).
The South Korean carded nine birdies, one bogey and a double-bogey for a score of 14 on the first day of play at Tahoe Mountain Club (Par 71, 7,480 yards) in Truckee, California, USA.
Kim, who is tied for fourth with Sam Ryder (USA), is five points off the 19 points of leader Ben Silverman (CAN).
The tournament is played on a modified stableford format where each hole’s score is converted to points and the player with the highest score rises to the top.
An eagle is worth five points, a birdie is worth two, a par is worth zero, a bogey is deducted one point, and a double bogey or worse is deducted three points.
The Barracuda Championship is a tournament for players who are not competing in the major championships in England during the same period.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve been in the top 10,” Kim said in a post-match interview, adding, ”I think the modified stableford format suits me well because I can hit aggressively.”
Kim’s only other top-10 finish this season was a tie for fourth at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson in May.
Kelly Kraft (USA) is in sole possession of second place with 17 points, two behind the top spot.
Seung-Yeol Noh (KOR) is tied for 15th with 11 points after recording seven birdies and three bogeys.
Noh will be looking for her second straight top-10 finish after tying for sixth at the ISCO Championship last week.
Bae Sang-moon is tied for 124th with one point, Kang Sung-hoon is tied for 132nd (0 points) and Lee Kyung-hoon is tied for 150th (-5 points) and will need to perform well in the second round to advance to the third round. 바카라사이트 추천
