“Dawson’s RBI single opened the door”
The Kiwoom Heroes won the seventh game of the season against the Lotte Giants of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League 5-3 at Sajik Stadium in Busan on April 22.
Kiwoom ended the first half of the season on a seven-game losing streak, starting against the NC Dinos at Gocheok Sky Dome on April 6 before the All-Star break, then taking a knee in the Doosan Bears-KT Wiz game. With a loss the previous day (Nov. 21), Kiwoom was on the verge of a franchise-record nine straight losses. However, the worst was avoided.
Kiwoom picked up its sixth win of the season after starter Yariel Furado pitched five innings, throwing 92 pitches for seven hits, three walks, and two runs (two earned) with two strikeouts. Yang Hyun (1 run in ⅓ inning) was followed by Lee Myung-jong (⅔ inning), Kim Sung-jin (1 inning), Kim Jae-woong (1 inning), and Lim Chang-min (1 inning) to shut down the Lotte bats and end the losing streak. Lim became the 16th player in KBO history to reach 110 saves.
Manager Hong Won-ki said, “Furado did his job for five innings. “Lee Myung-jong, who came up with the bases loaded in the sixth inning, was able to secure the 카지노 win, and the bullpen that came out afterward was able to keep calm and get over the hump,” he said, praising the pitchers’ performance.
At the plate, Kiwoom’s “new face,” $85,000 Ronnie Dawson, went 1-for-3 with a double, a home run, an RBI and a run scored. His first hit in his first at-bat was a grand slam. Lee Jung-hoo went 3-for-3 with a home run, one RBI, one run scored and one walk, Kim Hye-sung defended the net and had one hit, one stolen base and two runs scored, and Lee Won-seok had one hit, one RBI and one run scored.
“Dawson’s single in the first inning opened the door for the offense,” the commander said, “and in the seventh inning, when we really needed a run, Kim Hye-sung tripled and Lee Jung-hoo singled to win the game.”
But it wasn’t all smiles for Kiwoom in the game. In the top of the eighth inning, Kim asked for Lee Jung-hoo to be substituted after she felt pain in her left ankle. Lee limped back to the bench with the trainer’s assistance and was treated with icing. Kiwoom will monitor the progress of his ankle before heading to the hospital for a checkup, but it doesn’t look good.
