IBK Altos moves into fourth place behind Abecrombie’s performance.
IBK Business Bank earned a 3-1 (26-24 26-28 25-21 25-20) victory over GS Caltex Seoul KIXX in the Dodram 2023-2024 V-League Women’s Regular Season at Hwaseong Gymnasium on Saturday.
With seven wins and seven losses, IBK Corporate Bank moved into fourth place with 19 points, overtaking Jungkwanjang Red Sparks.
Abecrombie led the way with 42 points and two blocks in the win. Pyo Seung-ju added 16 points and one block, Choi Jung-min had nine points and six blocks, and Hwang Min-kyung chipped in with nine points.
GS Caltex, on the other hand, was led by Silva’s 31 points and 1 block, Kang So-hwi’s 18 points and 4 blocks, and Yoo Seo-yeon’s 16 points and 1 block.
Sets 1 and 2 saw both teams battle to deuce. In the first set, IBK smiled first. At 24-24 deuce, Pyo Seung-ju’s block and quick open were accurate.
In the second set, GS Caltex reached match point first, but IBK made it 25 with back-to-back team successes. After another exchange of points, GS Caltex made it 26-26 with a Silva winner, followed by a Silva service ace and a Kang So-hwi winner to tie the set 1-1.
In the third set, however, it was all IBK. IBK took the lead from the beginning of the set. Midway through the set, GS Caltex scored five straight points to pull within one point, but IBK quickly regained control and took a 2-1 lead on set point with a kill by Yuk Seo-young.
In the fourth set, IBK’s concentration was high. GS Caltex took the early lead, but after tying the score at 7-7, Hwang Min-kyung, Pon Poon, and Tim Sung-sueng created a gap and ran away with it. IBK continued to run away with the match, closing it out with a quick opener from Pyo Seung-joo, Tim Sung-sueng, and Kim Jung-ah’s serve.
