Arsenal crush Bournemouth 3-0 to stay top of table
Arsenal’s quest for a first title in 20 years continues.
Arsenal defeated Bournemouth 3-0 in the 36th round of the 2023-24 Premier League on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET at Emirates Stadium in London, England. With their fourth straight win, the Gunners remain in first place and have a four-point lead over second-place Manchester City, who have played two games less.
Arsenal came out in a 4-3-3 formation. David Luiz started in goal. The defense consisted of Takehiro Tomiyasu, Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, and Ben White. Declan Rice, Thomas Partey, and Martin Ødegaard were the midfielders, while Leandro Trosar, Kai Havertz, and Buchayo Saká formed the attacking line.
Bournemouth started with Mark Travers, Lewis Cook, Dominic Solanke, Ryan Christie, Alex Scott, Dango Watara, Justin Kluivert, Antoine Semenyo, Marcos Sensi and Ila Jabarni in the starting lineup.
Arsenal attacked one-sidedly. They struggled from the start to find the opening goal. Xhaka had a shot blocked in the fifth minute. In the 9th minute, Ödegaard had a shot blocked by the defense. In the 13th minute, Haberts left-footed shot was saved by Travers. Bournemouth took their chances as they fell behind. In the 16th minute, Magalhaes made a mistake and Solanke had a chance but couldn’t get his shot away.
After regrouping, Arsenal went back on the attack. In the 17th minute, Troisard’s shot flew over the bar. In the 26th minute, Pati had a sharp shot saved by Travers. In the 37th minute, Rice had a shot that deflected off the side of the goal.
We had a chance to take the lead. In the 41st minute, Habertz was tripped by Travers in the penetration and after video review, the referee awarded a penalty kick. Paty stepped up to the spot and converted to give Arsenal a 1-0 lead. The first half ended with Arsenal in the lead.
Haberts presence was huge. In the fourth minute of the second half, Harberts quickly slipped down the left side and sent a pass into the 토토 center, where the penetrating Saka fired a shot that was saved by Travers. In the seventh minute of the second half, Haberz had a shot on goal that was saved. Bournemouth attacked more frequently than in the first half. In the eighth minute of the second half, Solanke and Scott had consecutive shots on goal but failed to score.
Arsenal tried to increase the gap. In the 12th minute of the second half, Magalhaes header from a corner kick went wide of the goal. The Bournemouth counterattack was fierce. In the 14th minute, Cluivert had a shot on goal that went wide. In the 18th minute, Cluivert’s free kick went just wide of the Arsenal goal.
Trosar scores. The gap widened in the 25th minute of the second half when Troisard scored off a Rice pass. Bournemouth pulled Scott and brought on Billing immediately after the goal. In the 29th minute, Bournemouth scored a goal, but the referee disallowed it because it was a foul in the previous situation. The same was true after video review.
Bournemouth added Enes Unal in the 34th minute to bolster their attack. Arsenal brought on Gabriel Martinelli for Trosar in the 36th minute. Magalhaes scored in the 40th minute, but the goal was called back for offside. Arsenal brought on Gabriel Jesus to boost their offense.
There were eight minutes of second-half stoppage time. In the seventh minute of second-half stoppage time, Rice finished off what Jesus had set up to make it 3-0. The game ended with a 3-0 victory for Arsenal.
