Kia Tigers closer Jung Hai-young, currently tied for the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) lead with 18 saves, is the leading vote getter in the second update for the 2024 All-Star Game.
The KBO said Monday that Jung had earned the most votes from fans through two rounds of voting, which concluded Sunday, with 1,012,173 votes.
Doosan Bears catcher Yang Eui-ji, who had led Jung in the first update last week, is now in second place with 1,006,042 votes.
Jung, 22, was first voted onto the All-Star team in 2022.
Jung’s Tigers wll be on the “Nanum” team, along with representatives from the LG Twins, the NC Dinos, the Hanwha Eagles and the Kiwoom Heroes.
Players from the five remaining teams — the 한국을 Bears, the KT Wiz, the SSG Landers, the Lotte Giants and the Samsung Lions — will make up the “Dream” team.
Fans will vote in 12 players — starting pitcher, middle reliever, closer, catcher, first baseman, second baseman, third baseman, shortstop, three outfielders and designated hitter. For the second consecutive week, a Tiger is leading the way in every spot except second base and an outfield position for the Nanum team.
For the Dream side, the Lions are leading in six out of 12 positions, including all four infield positions.
Fan voting will close at 2 p.m. on Sunday, and the starting lineups, with fan voting accounting for 70 percent and player voting responsible for the remaining 30 percent, will be announced on June 17.
