The New York Mets will face the Philadelphia Phillies for a spot in the Championship Series.
The Mets defeated Milwaukee 4-2 in Game 3 of the 2024 Major League Baseball National League Wild Card Series at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Thursday.
After falling behind 0-2 through seven innings, they rallied for a 4-2 victory in the ninth. Mets starter Jose Quintana pitched six innings of four-hit ball, striking out five and walking one.
However, he hadn’t gotten any run support and turned to the bullpen in the seventh inning. Jose Bautista, who entered the game in the bottom of the seventh with the score 0-0, was hit by two solo home runs.
He threw a six-pitch changeup to Jake Bowers for a walk and a 96-mile-per-hour four-seam fastball to Sal Prellick for a solo shot.
Mets in trouble.
In the top of the ninth, Pete “The Polar Bear” Alonso hit a five-seam changeup from right-hander Devin Williams with runners on first and third for a game-tying triple.
Jesse Winker followed with a single, stolen base, 토토사이트 and Starling Marte’s RBI single. The Mets then brought in David Peterson in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the two-run victory.
The Mets, who beat Milwaukee 8-4 in the first game of Game 2, fell 3-5 in the nightcap. But by taking Game 3, the Mets are headed to the Division Series for the first time in nine years since 2015, when they reached the World Series.
The Mets will face the Philadelphia Phillies on April 7 for a spot in the National League Championship Series.
The division series is best-of-five. A win over the Phillies would set up a best-of-seven series with the San Diego Padres.
