The Chicago White Sox have lost 21 straight games

The Chicago White Sox have lost 21 straight games, tying the American League record for the longest losing streak.

The White Sox lost 1-5 to the Oakland Athletics on June 6 at the Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, California, USA. The loss extended the White Sox’ losing streak to 21 games.

According to MLB.com, “There’s probably no way to not be nervous in your major league debut. But for Kai Bush, it was even more difficult because he was about to become a part of American League history he didn’t want to be a part of,” said MLB.com, highlighting a rookie pitcher who made his debut under the worst possible circumstances.

Bush began his professional career with the Angels as a second-round (45th overall) pick in the 2021 First-Year Player Draft. He came to the White Sox in July of last year as part of the Lucas Giolito trade and made his big league debut in the game. Bush was tagged with the loss in a game that saw the White Sox snap a 21-game losing streak, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts and one hit batter in four innings.

He loaded the bases with one out in the first inning and eventually gave up the go-ahead run.

“Obviously, I didn’t throw good pitches,” said Bush, who added, “I kind of sprayed the ball all over the place a little bit. “After the first inning, I settled down and straightened it out. I was just like, ‘Just compete with the hitters. Please. Just throw them the best pitches you can,'” Bush said of his rough debut.

White Sox manager Pedro Griffol said, “Kai got the first out on a wild pitch. I thought he made some really good pitches at times. But at the end of the day, 파워볼실시간 we had to cut down on giving up free runs,” he said, explaining that cutting down on walks was key.

The White Sox lost their 21st straight game, tying the record set by Baltimore in 1988. It is the longest losing streak in American League history. The longest losing streak in Major League Baseball history is 26 games in 1889 by the Louisville Kernels. Louisville was a member of the American Association and National League from 1882 to 1899, when it disappeared for the last time. The longest losing streak in modern baseball since the 1900s is 23 games, set by the Philadelphia Phillies in 1961.

“We’ve lost 21 in a row now,” Griffol said.

It’s not fun. It’s painful, it hurts. Like I said, it’s not for lack of effort. Nobody wants to come to the ballpark and lose. We just have to play a good game together and forget about this,” he said of the 21-game losing streak.

Oakland needs two more losses to tie the record set by Philadelphia in 1961. The White Sox have called up Jonathan Cannon to pitch against Oakland on Sunday. Cannon is 1-5 with a 4.11 ERA in 13 games (70 innings) this season. Ross Stripling will start for Oakland. Stripling is 2-10 with a 5.64 ERA in 13 games (67 innings) this season.
